My current favourite book is ‘Magic. A Rough Guide’ by Nathan McGrath. It’s a gritty story based in a Britain where magic is a terrorist offence.

Lizzy, a young magician escapes from a prison laboratory where she’s been locked up with other magician girls since she was five years old. Determined to free all the other girls, things don’t go as expected when she comes across Chris, a joyrider who has only just realized he’s a magician himself.

Aladdin Review: Disney's Remake Finds the Diamond in the Rough

Disney’s live-action remakes of its animated features are practically their own subgenre by this point, complete with narrative tropes and recurring visual techniques. And while the trend kicked off with Alice in Wonderland in 2010, it wasn’t until Cinderella that these productions started to follow a recognizable formula. Indeed, the latest addition to the pile, Aladdin, tries to reimagine and “fix” the 1992 animated version in most of the same ways that Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast, and so forth attempted to “correct” their predecessors before it. However, in this case, that formula works a lot better than some people… Read more / Source: Screenrant.com: https://screenrant.com/aladdin-2019-movie-reviews/

Stranger Things: Demogorgon Origins, Life Cycle And Variants

The Demogorgon from Stranger Things has been haunting the nightmares of fans since the show debuted in 2016, but what are the origins of this vicious creature? With its great ensemble cast, including Winona Ryder and David Harbour (Hellboy), nostalgic setting and mix of drama and horror, Stranger Things quickly became a huge hit for Netflix. While some critics took issue with what they felt was shameless pandering to nostalgia by invoking movies like E.T. and Aliens, the overall quality of the series couldn’t be denied. The first season centered on a group of young boys who search for their missing… Read more / Source: Screenrant.com: https://screenrant.com/stranger-things-demogorgon-origins-life-cycle-variants/

Stellaris Receives Free Multiplayer Update on PS4 Today

You’re not alone. Stellaris is one of those PS4 games that probably plays surprisingly great on consoles for saying it originally launched as a daunting PC exclusive. Sony Recruiting Audio Designers for Project at Insomniac Games

More exclusives on the way? There are a couple of interesting inclusions on Sony’s careers page right now: it’s looking for a couple of audio designers to work onsite at Insomniac Games. This is particularly interesting, of course, because the Burbank-based developer is not part of PlayStation’s first-party portfolio, suggesting that the two organisations will be collaborating once more. We always expected a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man to emerge on the PlayStation 5, and there are perpetual rumours that a new Ratchet & Clank is in the works – but this is perhaps hard evidence that new exclusives are in production behind-the-scenes. What would you like to see next from the two companies? Swing freely in the comments section below. Read the full article on pushsquare.com

April 2019 NPD: Days Gone Lands Huge Launch, But Can't Lay a Glove on MK11

MLB The Show 19 still hitting home runs. Days Gone secured the seventh biggest Sony-published debut in US history, but still couldn’t stop the Mortal Kombat 11 juggernaut, which topped the respective sales charts for all four formats it released on. According to NPD data, the brutal brawler is already the second best-selling title of 2019 in America, despite only being available for a handful of the tracked period’s days. There’s plenty for Bend Studio to be proud of, however, as Deacon St John’s inaugural adventure is already the developer’s best-selling game of all-time in terms of revenue. The platform holder can be equally proud of MLB The Show 19, which finished third in the April 2019 sales chart, and continues to be the best-selling entry in the franchise on…
