I’ve been following the announcements and have come to the conclusion that PS5 will arrive in time for Christmas 2019
Playstation 5 will hit the markets in time for Christmas 2019 and here’s my thinking behind it.
The next Xbox, codenamed Scarlett, is expected to land on shop shelves at some point in the year 2020,
The CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment himself, John Kodera, stated the PS4 had entered the “final phase” of its life cycle.
PS4 sales are down.
Sony can’t afford to let Microsoft get a lead on them with a successor to the Xbox One X that will no doubt be more powerful than the PS4 Pro.
Most articles sat the Playstation 5 will arrive in 2020 but I think this would be a gamble for Sony, a big gamble. With PS4 sales already on a slowdown, the arrival of a more popwerful console would slow sales/profits down even further while Microsoft build up a head of steam with Scarlett.
And bear in mind that people buy consoles to play with friends so if one or two gamers in a group of freinds buys a Scarlett, others will follow suit – since it’s usually the innovators and more respected gamers that upgrade first.
What do you think? Are there arguments for Sony to let Microsoft get the jump on the next console release?
