Greetings, Sestras and Brother Sestras! How are we feeling after this week’s Orphan Black? I, for one, am still heartbroken. Also, from here on out I will approach each Saturday night with a box of tissues and copious amounts of alcohol on hand. Not that I condone drinking. However, the masterminds behind Orphan Black might turn us all into alcoholics as The Final Trip comes to a close.
So, what happened this week? Here’s a quick summation of the intense “Clutch of Greed.” Sarah wakes up at Dyad Institute and must adjust to the Rachel Regime. Rachel wishes to study Kira for her miraculous physiology. Sarah resists. Thus, the gang finds a way to smuggle Kira and Sarah out of Rachel’s reach. Meanwhile, Helena wakes in a hospital bed and discovers she has magical super healing babies. While a doctor tries to take amniotic fluid from her, Helena stabs said doctor with a needle. The needle travels through the doctor’s cheek, pinning her to the bed. You know, Helena stuff. Then, our sestra escapes.
Later, Cosima meets the famed Neolution creator P.T. Westmoreland, who asks her to continue her work once she’s cured. Which, by the way, the cure seems to be progressing quite nicely in Cosima. While Cosima initially resists the idea, she seems to warm up to Westmoreland by the end of their conversation. He is pretty fascinating, what with being 170 years old and all.
Then, Felix locates MK, who stays in Felix’s loft. She reveals she’s sick, with the very same illness that’s killing the Leda clones. When the gang breaks Kira out of school and away from Rachel, Sarah reunites with MK at the loft to try to convince her to join them. MK refuses, citing she’s tired of running. Instead, MK switches clothing with Sarah so the latter can escape. This results in a final showdown with Ferdinand, who was following Sarah and initially mistakes MK for our protagonist. He swiftly kills MK, finishing the job that Helsinki started. This was the worst part. No more clone deaths, please!
Now, on to new things. Orphan Black was kind enough to drop a tasty promo for us to chew over until next week. We see the consequences of this week’s actions come into full play. Alison (Tatiana Maslany) and Donnie (Kristian Bruun) are being questioned regarding Helena’s whereabouts. Of course, neither of them really know, even though Donnie was at the hospital with the renegade clone. Meanwhile, Kira (Sklyer Wexler) confesses to Rachel that everyone says she can’t trust her. However, Kira does seem to trust Rachel. Curses on Rachel for being so charming and British!
Then, Sarah knows that Rachel did “something” to Kira, but Kira is keeping mum about it. Sarah lacks the power in this scenario, and therefore must continue sending Kira to Rachel as if nothing is wrong. Finally, Art (Kevin Hanchard) questions Donnie about whether they’re “cool,” while the police searches his house. Donnie instructs …read more
